Fire Risk Assessor
In this role as a Fire Risk Assessor within the West Midlands region, you will be responsible for ensuring that our clients' premises are safe from fire hazards and comply with all relevant legislation. Below is an outline of your key duties and responsibilities:
Carry out comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments on a variety of buildings, including commercial properties, industrial sites, educational institutions, and residential buildings.
Identify fire hazards, evaluate the risk associated with each hazard, and propose appropriate control measures to minimize the risk.
Develop detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans for each assessment, ensuring they are clear, concise, and easy for clients to understand.
Liaise with clients to discuss assessments and provide advice on implementing necessary fire safety improvements.
Review and update Fire Risk Assessments as needed in response to changes within the client's premises or new legislation.
Stay up-to-date with fire safety legislation, best practices, and industry standards at both national and local levels.
Ensure assessments are carried out in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other relevant legislation.
Advise clients on their responsibilities under fire safety legislation and help them to achieve and maintain compliance.
Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a Fire Risk Assessor.
Collaborate with colleagues, industry experts, and professional bodies to share best practices and stay informed about advancements in fire safety technology and techniques.
Maintain professional accreditation through the relevant industry body (e.g., the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, the National Fire Protection Association).
Build strong relationships with clients, gaining their trust by providing reliable, professional advice on fire safety matters.
Act as a point of contact for clients, responding promptly to enquiries and addressing any concerns they may have about fire safety.
Attend client meetings and presentations as required, using your communication skills to explain complex technical issues in an understandable manner.
Foster a culture of openness and transparency with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their Fire Risk Assessments and any recommended actions.
Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines at all times when carrying out assessments or attending client premises.
Promote fire safety culture by providing training, resources, and advice to clients on fire prevention measures, emergency procedures, and evacuation plans.
